Let me introduce myself...

Lucinda has been remiss in announcing my name, so let me introduce myself. I have been officially christened "Teddy. " There seems to be a tradition around here of passing on a name when someone passes.

Kitty Carlisle was named for, well...

Though I fail to see a resemblance.

So after much voting and a profound desire out there for some people to call me "Alabama," When Senator Kennedy died, all those "Bama" people changed their minds and demanded I be named "Teddy."

So it's official.

I was going to play you a "Teddy" tune but all Lucinda had was Teddy Bear's Picnic by some ukulele playing French guys. So when you listen think of it as the Teddy Cat's Picnic. It's right down there.

Kitten Redux -- Name That Kitten

Well, the kitten has survived the week. Last night she followed the chickens to their house when night fell, but it is too little to get into the chicken house and too skittish to pick up.

It is still munching down on the old zucchini, and no doubt thinking, "Surely there is something better for us chickens to eat."

I managed to pick it up yesterday, but held it a bit too long and it chomped my finger.

It is so small I cannot tell its sex yet. But we are up for taking names.

It was a year before Kitty Carlisle got her name and that took the death of, well, Kitty Carlisle.

So, send us you name ideas....

New Wood Shed

Jon, my wonderful contractor, built me a new woodshed. As with most of Jon's projects, the woodshed, instead of being a slapped-together protector of cut firewood, is easily livable. In fact, there was much discussion at the end of the project as to whether it would be wasted by stacking wood and instead should be used to set up a bar.

Tough call! Either way, it came out very nice, due in no small part to our general contractor, Kitty Carlisle, who spent the day carefully avoiding any rain.

Jon had plenty of help. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get a chicken to make miter cuts? Actually, the cuts are easy but is just so hard to get them do the math properly! They have a devil of a time with fractions.

This winter, I may freeze, but my wood will be safely ensconced in the wood shed.
